Only 7% of Canadian children and youth are meeting the recommended 60 minutes of moderate-to vigorous-intensity exercise every day of the week
Only 50% of Canadian kids are active enough daily to ensure basic, healthy development
Only 20% of children aged 6 to 12 get their required daily intake of vegetables and fruit
Health professionals have speculated that this may be the first generation of children who many not outlive their parents
On March 22, 2012 students and staff at MDH will be partaking in our Annual Health and Wellness Fair. Student will have the opportunity to partake in presentations from various local organizations. With topics relating to mental, social, spiritual, social and physical health students will enjoy a full day of sessions and activities as well as a Keynote presentation from the Alberta Special Olympics.

Hoops for Hearts Fundraiser
As a part of our Health Fair on Thursday March 22nd we are again using this event to kick off our support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Please follow the link http://www.hoopsforheart.ca/site/c.nlI2IeNWJyE/b.4358575/k.BED5/Home.htm to setup your own fundraising page.
Directions:
1-Click on the “Register to Fundraise” basketball on the left of the page.
2-Type in “Madeleine” into the search, then click on Madeleine D'Houet Bilingual School.
3-From there you can follow the prompts to setup your account.
4-Once provided with the link to your personal page, you can send it to your family and friends who will be able to then donate online.
We will not be collecting any cash or cheque donations this year. All online donations will be mailed receipts.
